Flagstaff Pulliam Airport announces emergency response exercise on Sept. 9

Flagstaff Pulliam Airport (FLG) has announced an increased presence of first responders at the airport on Monday, Sept. 9, 2024. This heightened activity is part of a planned full-scale exercise named “Operation Ready FLG.” The exercise involves a simulated aircraft incident and is being conducted in compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations. Flight operations at the airport will not be affected.

The primary objective of “Operation Ready FLG” is to test and enhance the airport’s emergency response capabilities. The exercise will involve local, state, and federal agencies, focusing on improving interoperability and coordination.

"This exercise provides a valuable opportunity for airport personnel, first responders, and partner agencies to evaluate and strengthen critical components of emergency preparedness," stated a representative from Flagstaff Pulliam Airport.

Participating agencies include:

- Arizona Department of Emergency and Military Affairs

- Arizona Department of Public Safety Air Rescue

- Arizona Public Service

- Camp Navajo Fire Department

- City of Flagstaff Airport, Communication & Civic Engagement, Emergency Management, Fire Department, Police Department, Public Works, and Sustainability

- Coconino County Emergency Management

- Federal Aviation Administration

- Flagstaff Medical Center

- Guardian Medical and Air Transport

- Northern Arizona Intergovernmental Public Transportation Authority

- National Weather Service

- Northern Arizona University

- Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport

- Ponderosa Fire Department

- Sedona Fire District

- Southern Baptist Convention Disaster Relief

- Summit Fire and Medical District

- United States Air Force

- United Way of Northern Arizona

- Wiseman Aviation

- Yuma International Airport
