Lane shifts are scheduled to commence along Cedar Avenue as part of the Cedar Avenue Crossing Project. The City of Flagstaff, in collaboration with Eagle Mountain Construction, is set to begin this initiative aimed at replacing the box culvert beneath Cedar Avenue between Grandview Drive and Monte Vista Drive. The existing culvert will be replaced with a larger one to handle post-wildfire flows in Spruce Wash.
Preliminary work will involve lowering the current water main on Cedar Avenue to accommodate the new, larger box culvert. This phase is expected to start on Monday, Dec. 16, with the installation of the new culvert planned for spring 2025. During this period, lane shifts will occur on Cedar Avenue; however, both eastbound and westbound traffic will remain open throughout the process. These initial lane shifts are anticipated to last approximately two weeks.
The City is advancing significantly on projects within the Spruce Wash suite, funded by Proposition 441. Following the completion of the Grandview Drive Reconstruction Project, work continues on other projects including Linda Vista Drive Crossing Project, Cedar Avenue to Linda Vista Drive Channel Project, and “The Wedge” Detention Basin Project. Linda Vista Drive remains closed to vehicular traffic until spring 2025 with slight adjustments in closure areas as necessary. Pedestrian and bicyclist access will be maintained during construction activities. Motorists are advised to adhere to marked signage and detours for navigation.
