The City of Flagstaff is seeking public input on the third and final draft of the Greater Observatory Mesa Trail Plan. Members of the public are invited to review the plan, learn how it may affect them, and provide input for the City Council’s consideration.

A public forum will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2024, from 5 - 7 p.m. at the Flagstaff City-Coconino County Downtown Public Library (300 West Aspen Ave.). This event offers an opportunity to learn about the trail plan's development, review its details, and provide feedback for city council consideration.

Additionally, a virtual survey will be available during the comment period from Sept. 4 to October 18, 2024. The survey can be accessed at www.flagstaff.az.gov/4870. It will describe how the trail plan was developed and allow respondents to review it and offer their input for City Council’s consideration.

These opportunities represent the final phase of community review for the Greater Observatory Mesa Trail Plan. The City has previously held two public comment periods for earlier drafts through online surveys and public meetings. Community input from these sessions has informed this third and final draft of the trail plan, which can also be viewed at www.flagstaff.az.gov/4870.

The purpose of the Greater Observatory Mesa Trail Plan is to design a trail system for implementation in the Greater Observatory Mesa Natural Area. The plan includes recommendations for restoration and defines appropriate uses of a completed trail system. The City of Flagstaff will use this final plan to guide future management and trail implementation.

For questions regarding the Greater Observatory Mesa Trail Plan or upcoming community input opportunities, please contact Robert Wallace at robert.wallace@flagstaffaz.gov.
