The City of Flagstaff, in collaboration with Eagle Mountain Construction and the Arizona Department of Transportation, has completed the majority of Phase 1 of the Beulah/University Realignment Project. With this milestone reached, Phase 2 is set to commence, starting with the construction of a new pedestrian underpass prior to surface improvements along Milton Road. Additional work will include the reconstruction of a section of University Avenue (future Fresquez Avenue) and Yale Street.
To facilitate the safe installation of the new pedestrian underpass beneath Milton Road, existing traffic patterns will be altered beginning August 19 and continuing through September 2024. During this period, southbound lanes on Milton Road will be detoured to University Avenue (future Fresquez Avenue), then onto the new Beulah Boulevard extension via a newly constructed roundabout, leading to Forest Meadows Street. The new Beulah Boulevard extension and roundabout will also be accessible from University Avenue. However, northbound traffic along both the new Beulah Boulevard extension and Yale Street will be closed. Northbound traffic on Milton Road, including eastbound access to University Drive, will remain open during this traffic shift.
"We appreciate your understanding and patience as we work hard to finish this project," stated project representatives.
