The Water Infrastructure Finance Authority (WIFA) Board of Directors has approved four grants to the City of Flagstaff Water Services through the Water Conservation Grant Fund (WCGF). The WCGF is one of three new funds established last year by the Arizona state legislature. This fund facilitates activities aimed at reducing water consumption and creating water efficiency programs.

The City of Flagstaff applied for multiple grants to improve water efficiency in its water delivery systems and develop tools that model local watershed and groundwater systems. The four grants awarded to the City by WIFA include $750,000 to accelerate the replacement of water meters with ultrasonic meters, $136,000 to improve the tracking of non-revenue water, $60,000 for the development of a watershed model for the Upper Lake Mary Watershed, and $80,000 for the development of a computer model that will integrate the City’s existing surface water and groundwater models.

City of Flagstaff Water Services staff continue to seek additional grant funding opportunities that will advance excellence in all its programs.
