U.S. Forest Service - Coconino National Forest issued the following announcement on Oct. 9.
Boo! It's #SpookySaturday, folks, and we have this creepy submission by Taylor Prichard of a wolf spider in Flagstaff. Wolf spiders get their name because of their method of hunting: to run down prey like that of a wolf. They are amazing, adept hunters with great eyesight who typically hunt at night. In fact, one can easily spot a wolf spider at night because their eyes reflect very well. They range from a half inch to two inches in length and are hairy. As the weather gets cooler, these animals often try to find their ways into homes and can be found around door frames, basements, and garages.
Thank you for your photo submission, Taylor! Do you have any creepy crawly photos you'd like us to feature? Comment below and you might just see your photography on our feed. Anything spooky will do - an onimous moon, interesting invertebrates, calculating cacti...we love to see your creativity!
