The City of Flagstaff will lift current fire restrictions and return to Stage 0 fire restrictions on Friday, July 26 at 8 a.m.

Under Stage 0 fire restrictions, smoking and the use of electronic cigarettes are prohibited in all public places within the City of Flagstaff, including City Parks, Open Spaces, and the Flagstaff Urban Trail System (FUTS) at all times. Residents and visitors are advised not to throw cigarettes or matches out of moving vehicles as they may ignite dry grass on the roadside and cause wildfires. All outdoor fires should be properly extinguished by drowning with plenty of water and stirring to ensure everything is cold to the touch. Charcoal should be dunked in water until cold; live charcoal should not be thrown on the ground. Fires should never be left unattended as sparks or embers can blow into leaves or grass, potentially igniting a fire that can spread quickly.

Outdoor fires of any kind within the City of Flagstaff are prohibited except by written permit from the Fire Department. An exception is made for outdoor fires within inhabited premises or designated campsites in barbecues, outdoor fireplaces, incinerators, grills, or other outdoor fire appliances that are a minimum of 15 feet from any combustible materials or non-fire-resistive vegetation.

The City cooperates with local, county, state, and federal fire management agencies to ensure coordinated efforts in implementing fire restriction actions. The community is urged to help keep forests safe by adhering to all bans and restrictions.
