Residents of the Coconino Estates neighborhood will be able to move sandbags to the curb in front of their homes in late July, following the completion of the Schultz Creek Drainage Improvements Project at US Hwy 180. City of Flagstaff crews will begin sandbag pick-up and removal from the neighborhood in August. City employees are not permitted to enter private property to remove sandbags, so residents must ensure that their sandbags are placed in City right-of-way areas before pick-up.

The Schultz Creek Drainage Project is expected to be substantially complete in July. This project aims to alleviate both the post-fire flood threat from the Pipeline Fire (2022) and significantly reduce or eliminate the existing FEMA special flood hazard area for the nearby neighborhood.

Volunteers are needed for sandbag removal, disposal, and clean-up on Saturday, July 20, and Saturday, July 27. Tasks may include debris clean-up and maintenance or placement of sandbags in flood-impacted areas. Volunteers can sign up at bit.ly/2024sandbagvolunteers.

Residents who are elderly or have a disability and need assistance with their sandbags can call the City’s service request line at 928-213-2102. Additional questions can also be directed to this line. For more information about the Schultz Creek Drainage Improvements Project, please visit Flagstaff.az.gov/PipelineWest.
