Mayor Becky Daggett | City of Flagstaff
The City of Flagstaff is hosting an informational meeting on Monday, April 8 from 5:30 - 7 p.m. at the East Flagstaff Community Library to discuss the current drinking water, wastewater, and reclaimed water rate study. The meeting aims to inform attendees about the proposed rate changes and their potential impact on water bills. According to the announcement, the meeting will be a drop-in style event where attendees can ask questions of City staff and provide feedback.
"The City uses funding generated by water rates and fees to provide high-quality water for customers, develop and maintain reliable sources of water, maintain and replace aging water infrastructure, reclaim water for other uses, and fulfill regulatory requirements," said an official statement.
Various projects are set to be funded by water rates, including the replacement of aging underground water lines, maintenance or replacement of aging components of the City’s wastewater treatment plants, and equipment upgrades for the City’s drinking water wells. Large capital projects like the rehabilitation of the 1960s sedimentation basins at the Lake Mary Treatment Plant will also benefit from additional funds generated by rates.
Individuals interested in learning more about the rate study are encouraged to visit Cleanwaterflagstaff.com. The City also mentioned that efforts will be made to assist and accommodate persons with disabilities wanting to attend the meeting. For those requiring assistance, an email can be sent to sarah.langley@flagstaffaz.gov.
