Construction is set to begin for the Beulah/University Realignment Project in Flagstaff, with the focus on crossing Milton Road with new water and sewer utility infrastructure. The City of Flagstaff, along with their contractor, Eagle Mountain Construction, and the Arizona Department of Transportation, are working diligently to complete Phase 1 of the project.

According to the project details, lane closures will be necessary to safely install the new utilities across Milton Road. University Drive will also be closed between Milton Road and the western driveway entrance to Target. Motorists are advised to follow the designated signage and anticipate delays while traveling through the project area.

"Typical work hours are Monday through Thursday, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., with occasional work on Friday and Saturday," stated a project spokesperson.

Once the utility installation across Milton Road is finished, Phase 2 of the project will begin, starting with the construction of a new pedestrian underpass before surface improvements along Milton Road.

Throughout the project, which is expected to last until late 2025, motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists should be prepared for traffic delays, lane closures, and detour routes along Milton Road, University Drive, and University Avenue.

"Crews will make every effort to maintain essential public services and access to driveways at all times during the project. Residents will receive advance notice of any temporary water shut-offs required to tie into the City's existing system," assured the project team.
