Coconino County, AZ; The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office would like to recognize the passing of one of our retired K-9 Deputies, Kiko. Kiko was an 8-year veteran of the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office, serving from 2008 to 2016.

In 2016 Kiko and his handler, Deputy Rick Shouse retired. Kiko continued to live out his retirement days with Retired Deputy Shouse. Kiko lived to be almost 16 years old. Kiko came from Slovakia and faithfully served the Blue Ridge Community as well as the rest of Coconino County.

During his career, Kiko made significant contributions to his profession and public safety by locating multiple drug seizures, along with tracking and protecting his partner during his daily patrol activities. As a working K-9, Kiko participated in extensive training on a regular basis along with annual certifications in order to perform his duties. The Blue Ridge community was always safer place with Kiko and Deputy Shouse on duty.

Kiko will be remembered by all who worked with and knew him.

“Trust in me, my friend, for I am your comrade. I will protect you with my last breath. When all others have left you and the loneliness of the night closes in, I will be at your side.”

Thank you Kiko, for your Service to Community.
