Transaction coordinator 34 orig

City of Flagstaff issued the following announcement on Sept. 21.

On September 29, 2021 from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. the City of Flagstaff, Coconino County and the Northern Arizona Council of Governments (NACOG) will hold a free open house at 216 West Phoenix Avenue.

The event, held in a former City warehouse, will highlight two items. First, the Northern Arizona Intergovernmental Public Transportation Authority’s (NAIPTA) plans for the property will be showcased, including a new Downtown Connection Center building and channelization of the Rio de Flag.

Second, the event will also include a review of a $600,000 grant from the United States Environmental Protection Agency that was used to clear the site for its future planned use. The new NAIPTA building will accommodate 15 buses at a time, as well as NAIPTA administrative offices and commercial or retail space that can be rented out.

The EPA grant that was awarded to the City of Flagstaff, Coconino County and NACOG also provides funding to eligible property and business owners. The funding is available for free on a first come, first served basis through September 30, 2022 or as long as money is available to property and business owners to increase property value, create jobs and encourage property and building reuse and redevelopment.

Free refreshments, drinks and a nature scavenger hunt for children will be available.
