FOIA Request to Coconino County Elections Office Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
In our continued commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Coconino News have sent a request under the Arizona Public Records Law § 39.101 et seq. to the Coconino County Elections Office. The request is for records of all candidates running in the upcoming election, preferably in an electronic format.
The specifics of the information requested include the first, middle, and last names of each candidate, as well as the office they are running for and its jurisdiction. We also asked for details regarding each candidate's party affiliation.
In addition to these basic details about each candidate, we have also requested their contact information. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.
As a media organization, our role involves gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.
