Peoria, AZ (January 16, 2024) - The Peoria City Council has made key appointments, designating Councilmember Jon Edwards as Vice Mayor and Councilmember Jennifer Crawford as Mayor Pro Tem. These appointments, which are in accordance with the Peoria City Charter, will see Edwards and Crawford assume their roles immediately for one-year terms.

According to the Peoria City Charter, the council is required to appoint a Vice Mayor and a separate member as Mayor Pro Tem. Both positions serve at the council's discretion and for one-year terms. The Vice Mayor assumes the responsibilities of the Mayor in their absence, while the Mayor Pro Tem takes on these duties when both the Mayor and Vice Mayor are unavailable.

Councilmember Jon Edwards brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served as Mayor Pro Tem in 2014, 2016, and last year. He also served as Vice Mayor in 2015, 2017, and 2021. In addition to his responsibilities on the City Council, Edwards represents Peoria on the Maricopa Association of Governments Transportation Policy Committee and sits on the Valley Metro Board of Directors.

Councilmember Jennifer Crawford, who was sworn into her first term on January 3, 2023, boasts an impressive background with over 30 years of experience in business and marketing. Throughout her career, Crawford has successfully managed small businesses, led a non-profit organization, and worked as a self-employed consultant.
