The Peoria Police Department and Glendale Police Department have joined forces to organize a charity softball tournament that will involve police officers and firefighters from throughout Arizona. The tournament, which will be a double elimination event, aims to raise funds for Special Olympics Arizona and Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) Arizona.
The tournament will take place at Paloma Park, located at 29799 N. Lake Pleasant Parkway, on Saturday, January 20. The opening ceremony is scheduled to commence at 8:30 am, followed by the tournament at 9 am. This event is open to the public and admission is free. In addition to the tournament, there will also be a thrilling home run derby.
Numerous departments have signed up to participate in this charitable event. These include: Peoria Police and Fire, Glendale Police and Fire, Scottsdale Police, El Mirage Police, AZ Department of Corrections, Gilbert Police, Phoenix Police (with two teams), Surprise Police, Avondale Police, Yavapai County First Responders, Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, Salt River Police, and Special Olympics AZ.
The organizers are excited about the tournament and the positive impact it will have on the community. Officer Smith from the Peoria Police Department expressed their enthusiasm, saying, "We are thrilled to be a part of this event and support such important causes.
