In Peoria, we don’t have to prepare our homes for harsh winters, but we do have to prepare them for the scorching summers. Summer-ize your home this year with these water-saving tips.
- Turn on your landscape watering system to adjust any overspray from sprinklers, plug drip emitters watering empty areas and repair any leaks.
- Adjust your watering schedule to match your plants’ summer water needs. Even thirsty grass should not be watered more than two times a week. Additionally, established trees and shrubs should be watered once every other week in the summer when watering deeply.
- Water deeply and infrequently to ensure your plants survive and thrive. Watering deeply allows the water to get to the root zone of the plants and makes them more resilient to the Arizona heat. Drip system run times should be set in hours, not minutes.
