Coconino County Canvass of Election Results Approved by Board of Supervisors

In Arizona, the Board of Supervisors in each county canvasses election results after all ballots are tabulated and all the necessary audits are performed by election staff.

The Coconino County Board of Supervisors met on November 28, 2022, to consider such action for the November 8 mid-term general election. In preparation, Coconino County Deputy Recorder Donna Casner and Elections Director Eslir Musta presented comprehensive information about elections operations, early voting statistics, voter turnout and statistics, provisional ballot reporting, bipartisan credentialed observers, and next steps.

Following the presentations and discussion, the Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the canvass of the election and official election results.

Also under consideration and unanimously approved by the Board of Supervisors were the school board member election results for the following unified school districts: Flagstaff, Williams, Grand Canyon, and Tuba City as well as the Maine Consolidated School District.

The Board also approved two propositions by the Flagstaff Unified School District #1: Proposition 447 for a 15% Maintenance and Operations Budget Override and Proposition 448 for a Special Bond Elections.

The Jail District Board of Directors, comprised of the County Board of Supervisors, unanimously approved the canvass of Proposition 445, the Jail District Sales Tax.

“Thank you all for all of your hard work,” said Supervisor for District 1 and Chair Patrice Horstman. “I can’t tell you how many people I’ve been running into in the community that have volunteered with both in the Elections and Recorder’s Office. For all of those in our community who stepped up to ensure Coconino County had an open, fair, and transparent Election Day and elections process, I want to give a heartfelt thank you.

The County Elections Department will now transmit the Board’s approved election results to the Secretary of State for the upcoming statewide canvass on December 5.
