Merissa Hamilton, Chairwoman of Arizona Strong Communities Action, took to the X platform, formerly known as Twitter, to ask those who are registered as independent to switch to Republican and give their vote to former president Trump. The request comes after former candidate for Arizona governor Kari Lake visited the Iowa State Fair last week to campaign for Trump and slam "woke" ideology.
"If you are a registered Independent voter in AZ, you need to update your voter registration record to Republican to vote in the Presidential Preference election for President Trump," Hamilton said.
In her steadfast endorsement of Trump, Lake utilized the chance to engage with undecided voters at the Iowa State Fair, aiming to sway their votes in his favor. Meanwhile, Trump himself attended the fair on Saturday, as did his opponents Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley, dedicating a few hours to his campaign efforts, according to the Daily Mail.
"I just witnessed @KariLake convince two registered Independents in Iowa to switch their voter registration to Republican so that they can caucus for President Trump," wrote conservative "Political Consultant" Colton Duncan, according to the X platform.
Lake didn't miss the chance to critique "woke" ideology while milking a cow. "You know there's only two genders, right?," said Lake to the crowd, according to the Daily Mail. "There's only two genders and they know that in Iowa. I challenge the New York Times reporter and the Washington Post reporter to try to milk a cow and then try to milk a bull and see how that goes."
Just last week, Lake called on other Republican candidates for president to drop out of the race and endorse him, emphasizing the need for a collective effort. Despite his recent indictments, Trump still maintains a leading position in the GOP primary race. He maintains his dominance across all polls, with the latest surveys indicating that he currently has 59% of support from Republican primary voters, according to Washington Examiner.
