Indigenous Peoples’ Day at Coconino Community College - Online via Zoom on October 11, 2021

Greater Flagstaff Chamber of Commerce recently issued the following announcement.

Date: October 11, 2021

Time: 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM MST

Event Description:

CCC Student Affairs is hosting Indigenous Peoples’ Day at Coconino Community College - Online Via Zoom.

This annual event honors Indigenous peoples and recognizes their cultures and histories.

During this year’s observance, CCC’s Land Acknowledgement Statement will be the focus.

Free and open to the public – everyone is invited and welcome to attend online via Zoom.

7 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Monday, October 11, 2021

The event will be virtual via Zoom starting at 9 a.m.

Event Program:

7 a.m. – Morning Prayer - Outdoors

Prayer Conducted by: Dennis Bedonie, Dine´

9 a.m. – Welcome Address

Welcome – Dr. Colleen Smith, CCC President – CCC Land Acknowledgement, Native American-serving Nontribal Institutions grant.

Keynote Speaker – Arizona Sen. Jamescita Peshlakai, D-Cameron

11 a.m. – Sacred Apache Land Presentation

Don Decker, Apache

1 - 3 p.m. – Discussion: Beyond the Land Acknowledgement
