FLAGSTAFF REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER: Preparing for Birth to be held November 2

Breast

Flagstaff Regional Medical Center recently issued the following announcement.

Congratulations! You are expecting a baby and it is an exciting time. The members of our Childbirth Education, or CBE, team at Flagstaff Medical Center are here to help you and your family prepare for this experience. We offer a variety of classes and services to give you the information and assistance you will need for birth and beyond. Classes are taught by Labor and Delivery nurses and certified and specially trained healthcare professionals. Early registration is recommended, as classes fill up quickly.

For more information on all CBE classes, email Autumn Argent at Autumn.Argent@nahealth.com(link sends e-mail).

Course Description

This three-week series is for those who may not be able to attend an all-day Saturday class and who prefer to have more breathing and relaxation practice sessions and more opportunities to interact with other expecting parents. Topics include labor and delivery; relaxation and breathing techniques with three practice sessions; comfort measures and coping strategies; medications; inductions; epidurals; c-sections; and the role of the support person. A physician from Forest Country Anesthesia conducts an anesthesia Q&A session during the series. Also, a certified car seat safety technician from Coconino Country Public Health Services District visits the last class to provide infant safety car seat information. Plan to finish the series prior to 34 weeks of pregnancy. The $70 tuition is for two people – the mother and her partner.

You will need to bring the following items for your classes: 2 to 4 pillows, an afghan, blanket, or yoga mat for floor exercises and a pen and paper to take notes. You will also need a refillable water bottle to use throughout the evening. Feel free to bring some snacks for you and your labor partner. Be sure to wear comfortable, stretchy clothing.

It’s recommended to arrive ten minutes early to your 1st class so that you have time to get signed in and settled in so class can begin promptly at 6:00 PM.

All classes are from 6p-9p in the NAH Education Center, 1000 N. Humphrey's St. STE 240-241, Flagstaff, AZ 86001.
