Mayor Becky Daggett | City of Flagstaff
Mayor Becky Daggett has been selected as one of eight participants in the 2025 MICD Just City Mayoral Fellowship. This program is a collaboration between the Mayors’ Institute on City Design (MICD) and the Just City Lab at Harvard Graduate School of Design, scheduled for Spring 2025.
The fellowship will address the national housing crisis by exploring how to accommodate community needs beyond just supply and demand. It aims to introduce mayors and their staff to planning and design strategies that utilize city resources to meet diverse housing requirements. The program includes dynamic presentations and dialogues with experts in architecture, urban planning, art activism, housing, and public policy over a semester-long course.
Participants will use the Just City Index as a framework to identify injustices within social, economic, and physical infrastructures of their cities. They will develop actionable plans for addressing these issues in their communities.
MICD is recognized as a leading forum for mayors to tackle city design and development challenges. It is a leadership initiative supported by the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with the United States Conference of Mayors. Since its inception in 1986, MICD has played a significant role in transforming communities through design by equipping mayors to be effective urban designers.
