Northern Arizona University (NAU) has recognized 48 student-athletes by naming them to the Big Sky Spring All-Academic team. The announcement was made by the league office on July 11, 2023. To qualify for this honor, athletes must have participated in at least half of their team's competitions, maintained a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2, and completed at least one academic term at their current Big Sky institution.
The Big Sky Conference included a total of 641 athletes from various sports such as men's and women's outdoor track and field, tennis, golf, and softball in its All-Academic team. At NAU, the women's outdoor track and field team led with 18 members named to the list, followed by the men's team with 12. Men's tennis had seven honorees while women's tennis had six. Five athletes from golf were also recognized.
Among the honorees from NAU, 30 student-athletes achieved a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50, with seven maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA.
In addition to academic achievements, NAU's teams performed well athletically during the season. Both men's and women's outdoor track and field teams won Big Sky titles. Men's and women's tennis teams finished undefeated in regular-season play but were runners-up in the conference tournament. Women's golf placed fourth at the Big Sky Championships with four players making it to All-Conference teams.
This spring recognition follows previous honors given to NAU student-athletes throughout the year: 52 in fall and 41 in winter seasons were named to their respective All-Academic teams.
A detailed list of NAU's Spring All-Academic selections includes students from various fields such as hotel management, exercise physiology, communication studies, psychology, business economics among others.
