Thirty-nine NAU athletes earn spots on Big Sky Winter All-Academic Team

A group of 39 student-athletes from Northern Arizona University (NAU) has been named to the Big Sky Conference Winter All-Academic team. The announcement was made by the league office, highlighting the academic achievements of these students in various sports disciplines.

Eligibility for this honor required student-athletes to participate in at least half of their team's competitions and maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Additionally, they must have completed at least one academic term at their current Big Sky institution.

For those involved in indoor track and field, participation in either half of the team's events or the conference championship was necessary for consideration.

The conference recognized a total of 511 athletes across ten institutions, encompassing sports such as indoor track and field, men's basketball, and women's basketball. NAU's representation included 13 honorees from men's track and field, ten from women's track and field, nine from women's basketball, and six from men's basketball.

Notably, eleven of NAU's selections achieved perfect GPAs of 4.0 while 29 others maintained GPAs above 3.5.

The indoor track and field teams continued their dominance by securing Big Sky Conference indoor titles for the fourth year in a row. The men's team also placed fourth at the NCAA Championships. In basketball achievements, the women's team reached the title game for a third consecutive season with a record-setting 25 wins while two players were selected for All-Big Sky teams.
