Northern Arizona University has introduced its first alternate athletic identity, the Astrojacks, to honor Flagstaff's lunar heritage. The new identity celebrates Flagstaff being named the world's first International Dark Sky City in 2001 and the discovery of Pluto in the area. The Astrojacks will be featured in six events during the 2024-25 season, with a color scheme of Nova Navy, Stardust Gold, and Pluto Blue.

The Astrojacks' scheduled appearances include matches against New Mexico for soccer on September 19th at Lumberjack Stadium and Montana for volleyball on October 17th at Rolle Activity Center. Women's basketball games are set against Eastern Washington on January 23rd and Idaho on January 25th. Men's basketball will face Idaho on February 20th and Eastern Washington on February 22nd.

The team's logo includes cosmic elements such as a symbolic "A" resembling a space shuttle, surrounded by planetary rings. Louie the Lumberjack will be joined by Blouie the Space Ox as part of this new identity.

Games will feature unique uniforms, giveaways, contests, entertainment, and family-friendly activities. The brand was developed by NAU Athletic staff with Mountain Mojo Group from Flagstaff.

Astrojack merchandise will soon be available for purchase. Fans can preview items at the "Meet the Jacks" event on August 16th at J. Lawrence Walkup Skydome.
