Peoria, AZ - In an effort to promote winter water safety, the City of Peoria is inviting residents to join their annual Winter Water Safety Day and Polar Plunge event. The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, January 6, from 8 to 9 a.m. at Sunrise Pool, located at 21321 N. 86th Drive.

This exhilarating event is not for the faint-hearted, as participants will be plunging into the icy waters of the pool, which will be maintained at a chilly 40 degrees. Those brave enough to take on the challenge and swim across the pool will be rewarded with a complimentary shirt.

The City of Peoria is also using this event as an opportunity to raise awareness and funds for swim lessons for children who are unsure of their swimming skills. Donations of any amount are accepted, and a $28 donation will cover two weeks of swim lessons for a child in need.

Mayor Jane Doe, a strong advocate for water safety, expressed her excitement about the event, stating, "The Polar Plunge is a great way to bring attention to the importance of winter water safety. We want our residents to have fun, but also understand the risks associated with cold water. By participating in this event, we hope to encourage everyone to learn proper water safety techniques and ensure a safer community."
