Coconino County issued the following announcement on Feb. 11.

The Coconino County Board of Supervisors hosted Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez in Flagstaff today to sign a renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Navajo Nation regarding road maintenance and construction.

The MOU between the Nation and Coconino County was first signed in 2016 following a 2014 voter-approved initiative, Proposition 403, that established capital funding to match Navajo Nation funding. It has included support for projects that improve school bus routes and other roads maintained by the County and the Navajo Nation.

The renewed MOU will continue this important partnership. The Board of Supervisors thanks President Jonathan Nez, the Navajo Nation Council, and the people of the Navajo Nation for this valuable partnership and its renewal.
