FLAGSTAFF UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT #1: FUSD Governing Board Approves Criteria for Return to School Plan and Athletics

Meeting

Flagstaff Unified School District #1 recently issued the following announcement.

The Governing Board of the Flagstaff Unified School District met on Tuesday, September 22, 2020, and discussed the current status of District and County health benchmarks and the feedback received from families and staff regarding models for returning students to in-person learning.

Full remote learning for FUSD students will continue at least through the Fall Break scheduled on October 15-19.  The Governing Board will meet on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, to further discuss the health benchmarks, and timelines and plans for a phased return to in-person learning.

Current health data indicates the community spread of COVID-19, in the areas served by FUSD, are within the Substantial (Red) category due to recent increases in positive cases.  All three health benchmarks will need to be in the Minimal (Green) and Moderate (Yellow) categories before the District can begin a phased return to in-person learning.

FUSD students will continue to have the option to remain in full remote learning throughout the 2020-2021 school year, based on student health needs or family preference, with the opportunity to transition to in-person learning at quarterly intervals.
