Jessica "J.R." MacKenzie is an Assistant Professor of Practice in the School of Arts Interior Design program.  When she is not guiding her students through the wonderful world of design technology, she is at home creating art.  What started as a mere hobby with coloring books has turned into a journey toward the professional world of colored pencil artwork.  Using rendering techniques she learned from her interior design education, YouTube videos, and Facebook groups, Jessica applies color, texture, light, and shadows with pencils to render animal portraits.  A life-long lover of animals, Jessica hopes to be able to show others the importance and beauty of domestic animals as well as wildlife. This exhibition chronicles her journey over the last year-and-a-half of creating animal portraits, and also highlights some of her abstract acrylic painting as well.
