FARMINGTON, Utah – Northern Arizona University has announced that 55 of its student-athletes have been named to the Big Sky Conference’s Spring All-Academic Team. This recognition highlights their achievements both in academics and athletics.

Eligibility for this honor requires student-athletes to have participated in at least half of their team’s competitions, achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher, and completed at least one academic term at their current institution. For those in outdoor track and field, participation in half of the team’s competitions or competing at the conference championship is necessary.

The Lumberjacks’ representation includes five golfers, seven men’s tennis players, six women’s tennis players, 19 women’s outdoor track and field members, and 18 men’s outdoor track and field members. Among these honorees, ten students achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA while forty maintained GPAs over 3.5.

Northern Arizona University also celebrated four championships during the spring season with victories by the tennis teams in regular Big Sky titles and both men’s and women’s track and field teams claiming championships outdoors in Sacramento, California. Consequently, NAU swept the Big Sky All-Sport Trophies.

The athletic department reported a collective GPA of 3.45 among Lumberjack student-athletes with twelve teams achieving a GPA of 3.2 or higher. Women’s soccer, swimming and diving, volleyball, golf, women’s cross country, women’s basketball, and women’s tennis all recorded GPAs over 3.6.

In totality, more than half (54.23%) of the student-athlete body made it to the Dean’s List with nine teams having at least half their roster on this list; ninety-three student-athletes earned perfect GPAs.
