The City of Flagstaff is organizing a public meet and greet for the community to interact with and provide feedback on the finalists for the City Manager position. This event follows the announcement of current City Manager Greg Clifton’s retirement. After a nationwide search that resulted in 34 applications, two candidates have been selected as finalists. The event will take place on Wednesday, October 22, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Flagstaff City Hall, located at 211 W Aspen Ave.

Joanne Keene is one of the finalists. She has 25 years of experience in public service leadership and holds a Master of Public Administration as well as a Bachelor of Arts in English/Broadcast Journalism from Northern Arizona University. Keene is currently serving as Deputy City Manager for the City of Flagstaff. Her previous roles include Deputy City Manager for the City of Sedona, Deputy County Manager for Coconino County, and Executive Vice President for Northern Arizona University.

Doug Schulze is the other finalist. He brings 36 years of experience in local government management and holds a Master of Arts in Urban and Regional Studies and a Bachelor of Public Administration from Minnesota State University, Mankato. Schulze has previously worked as City Manager in Banning, California; Bainbridge Island, Washington; Normandy Park, Washington; and Medina, Washington.

Community members are invited to attend the event to meet both candidates and provide their input. For additional information or questions, residents can contact Ryan Saxby, Human Resources and Risk Management Director for the City of Flagstaff, at Ryan.Saxby@flagstaffaz.gov.
