The 17th Annual Flagstaff Hullabaloo Festival will take place in Flagstaff on June 6-7, during National Music Week (May 3-10), according to the organization. The event is set to coincide with Route 66 Centennial celebrations and will be held at Wheeler Park.
Matt Ziegler, who created Flagstaff Hullabaloo 17 years ago, developed the festival from his passion for live music. According to the organization, “Matt turned a passion for music he discovered as a teen — then honed as single 20-something talent booker — into an experience he could share with his wife and daughter.”
The festival was designed to be more than just a music event. “The idea for Hullabaloo grew from a desire to build something bigger than just music – to create a participatory experience that didn’t exclude his family,” the organization said. Ziegler’s wife, Hadassah, has played an integral role in developing the festival, which now features opportunities for families and community members to come together in a family-friendly setting while supporting local causes.
This year’s festival will feature two days of entertainment including live music, dance performances, hands-on activities such as a parade and kids’ area, and other events aimed at celebrating Flagstaff’s diverse community. The annual event has been voted Best Flagstaff Festival more than ten times by local audiences.
A new addition this year is Ziegler’s own band, Pummin Lummin, which will perform at the festival for the first time following the recent recording of their debut album.
