The City of Flagstaff Sustainability Office is encouraging residents to participate in two upcoming events aimed at reducing landfill waste.
Drop-Off Day will allow community members to dispose of certain items safely. Accepted materials include expired or unwanted medications, vitamins, supplements, aerosol cans, batteries, various types of light bulbs, electronic waste such as computers and printers, medical syringes, and sensitive documents for onsite shredding with a limit of two small boxes per vehicle. However, the event will not accept CRT televisions, liquid waste such as latex paint and chemicals, illegal drugs, car seats, or commercial waste.
Additionally, the city is hosting a Fix-It Clinic on Saturday, Nov. 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Joe C. Montoya Community & Senior Center located at 245 N. Thorpe Rd. At this event, volunteers will help participants repair small appliances, clothing, electronics and other household items rather than discarding them.
“Fix-It Clinics are community-driven events that pair community members with knowledgeable volunteers who can help fix small appliances, clothing, electronics, and more.”
Appointments are encouraged but walk-ins will also be accommodated. More information and appointment scheduling can be found at flagstaff.az.gov/3231/Fix-it-Clinic.
