Public hearings are scheduled this fall to gather input on two major planning documents: the Flagstaff Regional Land Use Plan 2045 and the Coconino County Comprehensive Plan Envision 2045. The City of Flagstaff will conduct hearings for its updated regional plan, which serves as a guide for policy decisions and future land use over the next decade. The plan is available online at www.flagstaff.az.gov/RegionalPlan2045.

The public hearing schedule for the Flagstaff Regional Land Use Plan 2045 includes a Planning and Zoning Commission hearing on Wednesday, September 10, from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the Flagstaff Aquaplex (1702 N Fourth St, Flagstaff, AZ). A City Council public hearing will be held on Wednesday, September 24, starting at 4 p.m., followed by another council session on Thursday, October 9, starting at 3 p.m., both at City Hall Council Chambers (211 W Aspen Ave, Flagstaff, AZ).

Coconino County is also updating its comprehensive plan with Envision 2045. This document outlines a twenty-year vision for development based on community input. The draft will be accessible online beginning September 2 at https://coconinocounty.konveio.com/envision2045.

Hearings for the county’s plan include a Planning and Zoning Commission session on Wednesday, September 24, starting at 5:30 p.m., which will be held virtually. The Board of Supervisors public hearing is set for Tuesday, November 18, starting at 6 p.m. at 219 E Cherry Ave in Flagstaff.

Although some hearings overlap on September 24, officials note that there are multiple opportunities for participation in each process. All five hearings offer virtual attendance options and will be recorded and posted online. Public comments can be submitted during each hearing or sent in advance to RegionalPlan45Comments@flagstaffaz.gov for the regional plan or mshaw@coconino.az.gov for the comprehensive plan.

“Following the Comprehensive Plan hearings, the Coconino County Board of Supervisors will schedule hearings to adopt the Regional Plan as an amendment to the Comprehensive Plan.”

For further details about the Regional Plan, residents can visit www.flagstaff.az.gov/RegionalPlan2045 or contact Sara Dechter at sdechter@flagstaffaz.gov or (928) 213-2631. Information about Envision 2045 is available at https://coconinocounty.konveio.com/envision2045 or through Melissa Shaw at mshaw@coconino.az.gov or (928) 679-8868.
