Flagstaff announces completion of Spruce Wash Flood Mitigation Projects

The City of Flagstaff announced on June 1 the completion of the Spruce Wash Flood Mitigation Suite of Projects, which are designed to reduce the impact of post-wildfire flooding in the Paradise, Grandview, and Sunnyside neighborhoods.

City leadership and project team members expressed gratitude to community members and professionals who contributed to the project’s success. To mark this milestone, a community celebration is scheduled for Friday, June 26 at 3 p.m. at Ponderosa Park located at 2512 N 1st St. Light refreshments will be provided during the event.

“The City of Flagstaff is excited to announce the completion of the Spruce Wash Flood Mitigation Suite of Projects! The mitigation projects will reduce the impact of post-wildfire flooding in the Paradise, Grandview and Sunnyside neighborhoods,” city officials said. “City leadership and project team members are grateful for the community members and professionals that have contributed to the project’s success. To celebrate…we’d like to invite you to attend a community celebration on Friday, June 26 at 3 p.m. at Ponderosa Park (2512 N 1st St.) Light refreshments will be provided. We hope to see you there!”

The City of Flagstaff operates with an elected mayor and council members who establish policy and offer guidance, delivers services through its departments while promoting public involvement via boards, commissions, and elections; it also received designation as the world’s first International Dark Sky City in 2001 after adopting zoning codes limiting outdoor lighting per acre in 1989 and enacting an ordinance managing outdoor lighting issues as early as 1958, according to the official website.
