Flagstaff City Hall and several other city facilities will be closed on Monday, October 13, in observance of Indigenous Peoples Day. City Hall, located at 211 W. Aspen Ave., will reopen on Tuesday, October 14, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Other city facilities that will be closed include the Cinder Lake Landfill and Hazardous Products Center, Citizens Cemetery, Downtown Flagstaff City-Coconino County Public Library, East Flagstaff Community Library, Hal Jensen Recreation Center, Joe C. Montoya Community and Senior Center, and the Materials Recovery Facility.

However, the Aquaplex at 1702 N. Fourth Street will remain open with regular hours from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., and the Jay Lively Activity Center at 1650 N. Turquoise Drive will operate with its usual programming.

Residential trash and recycling services will not take place on Monday. Residents who normally have their trash collected on Monday will have it picked up on Tuesday instead. Recycling collection for those scheduled on Monday will occur on Wednesday. All other residential customers will not experience changes to their collection schedule.

Commercial trash and recycling services are also suspended for the day. Collection for commercial customers will be rescheduled throughout the week to accommodate the holiday.

Despite office closures, the City of Flagstaff is organizing an Indigenous Peoples Day celebration event at the Elks Lodge at 2101 N San Francisco St. The event is titled “From Policy to Prosperity: Indigenous Leadership in a Changing Landscape” and is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring presentations as well as cultural performances including songs and dances. The community is invited to attend.

City closure information can be found online at flagstaff.az.gov. For questions about the celebration event, contact Rose Toehe, City of Flagstaff Indigenous Affairs Administrator at Rose.Toehe@flagstaffaz.gov.
