The New Mexico Highlands Cowgirls, featuring former Flagstaff High School standout Hallie Watkins, were narrowly defeated 4-3 by the Black Hills State Yellow Jackets in an NCAA Division II softball game Saturday, March 7, at noon.
The contest, the Cowgirls’ first against the Yellow Jackets this season, was held at Yellow Jacket Field.
Watkins tallied three hits in four appearances at the plate, crossing home twice, collecting four RBIs, and drawing one walk.
The Cowgirls are slated to face Black Hills State again at Yellow Jacket Field on Saturday, March 7, with first pitch set for 2 p.m.
