Dark Sky Brewing Company, a brewery located in Flagstaff, is celebrating Beer Can Appreciation Day by highlighting the artistic designs on their beer cans. The brewery collaborates with Brazilian artist Thiago Bianchini, who has created over 80 unique labels for them. Bianchini’s journey with Dark Sky began five years ago when he was discovered online by Larami Sandlin, one of the brewery’s owners. She was looking for an artist to design a label in memory of Sequoia, their late brewery dog.
Bianchini receives guidance about a month before each beer launch to develop his designs. His hand-illustrated concepts are transformed into digital art files that adorn the cans. “I always try to make the illustrations fun, surreal and full of detail,” says Bianchini. This approach allows consumers to engage with the artwork while enjoying their drink.
The brewery releases between 12 and 20 new can designs annually, each showcasing Bianchini’s talent. These cans not only serve as vessels for craft beer but also as creative canvases that tell stories and capture imaginations.
