The City of Flagstaff Planning & Development Services Division announced on Apr. 28 that it will hold two public outreach events to discuss the upcoming adoption of the 2024 Building and Fire Codes. The sessions are scheduled for May 12 at the Murdoch Community Center and May 13 at City Hall Lobby in Flagstaff, Arizona.
These meetings aim to inform community members, design professionals, contractors, developers, and property owners about key updates in the new codes. Attendees will have opportunities to ask questions about how these changes may affect future projects, permitting processes, construction practices, and building safety across Flagstaff.
The city said adopting updated building and fire codes helps maintain modern standards for life safety, structural integrity, wildfire risk reduction, and energy efficiency. Participants can learn about code changes that enhance safety features as well as provisions supporting sustainability and emerging technologies. There will also be discussion on how local amendments align with community goals for innovation and long-term resilience.
