The Arizona Department of Transportation, City of Flagstaff, and their contractors are progressing on two projects along Cedar Avenue. Both projects are on schedule, with Cedar Avenue set to open to vehicular traffic at Monte Vista Drive/Main Street and Fourth Street by Monday, August 4. However, pedestrian access through the intersection will remain restricted, with existing detours continuing at the Fourth Street and Cedar Avenue/Lockett Road intersection as crews complete sidewalk and roundabout crossings in the coming weeks. Pedestrians should follow marked signage.

For questions or additional project information, residents can call the project hotline at (928) 255-5153.

The Fourth-Lockett Roundabout Project replaced a signalized intersection at Fourth Street and Cedar Avenue/Lockett Road with a new roundabout to enhance safety and functionality. The roundabout includes flashing pedestrian crossing beacons to slow speeds, reduce angle collisions, and add a crosswalk at the fourth leg of the intersection. Additional work involves installing water, sewer, and storm drain infrastructure. Miscellaneous concrete, electrical, and landscape work is ongoing, with full completion expected in Fall 2025.

More details about this project and driving tips for the new roundabout can be found at www.fourthlockettproject.com. Weekly updates are available via email; interested parties can subscribe through the project website or by emailing info@fourthlockettproject.com.

Additionally, as part of the Spruce Wash Flood Mitigation Project—a series of flood control initiatives—a new storm drain system was installed across Cedar Avenue between Grandview Drive and Monte Vista Drive.
